Hastings Baptist Church held its first service on Sunday 2 May 1909. This came after several months of prayer, encouragement from the Baptist Union, and with the leadership of the pastor from Napier. The Church was formally constituted on 29 December 1909 with a membership of 28. Land was purchased, the first pastor was called, and a building was erected – all by June 1910. (Follow this link to read more of the church's story). After a century of gathering as a Baptist congregation in Hastings, the church celebrated its centenary over the Labour weekend. We were thrilled to see so many joining with us in the reunion, remembering and rejoicing at what the Lord has accomplished here. Photos, video and audio from the weekend will appear here soon.
