Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)

The proper response to God's great rescue through Jesus Christ is to live a new life - a life granted to the Christian through the gospel. A vital element of the new life in Christ is the renewing of the mind with truth. This is truth which works its way out into all aspects of life. This is the pattern of a life lived to please God, expressing gratitude and true worship through a sacrificial and holy life.

The aim of the resources provided through this website is to help the interested enquirer see some of the dimensions of the Christian message as well as encouraging followers of Jesus to engage their minds in discerning a life that pleases God.

Sermons

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? ... faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:14, 17)

The most recent sermons are available soon after each Sunday morning service.  Additonally, selected sermon series are available, particularly those that work through a book of the Bible.

  • Why do Christians listen to sermons? There are certain convictions that Christians need to have in order to persevere with the listening to, and the preaching of, sermons. Those convictions have to do with the nature of God and the way God works.

Articles

While sermons have been provided for the ear, articles have been provided for the eye.  Reading, thinking and reflecting - these are the key elements of the lost art of Christian meditation.  The aim of the material provided is to help the examiner of Christian belief or the follower of Jesus grow practically in their knowledge and their love of God and of their neighbour.

Books

“Read the great books! That is worth repeating: Read the great books! …You should bear in mind why they were written: great books were written to show a great God and a great Christ to the people of God. You must never let yourself be tricked into reading lesser books about great subjects when you are perfectly capable of reading great books about great subjects!” - Sinclair Ferguson

Nearly 2000 years of Christian reflection on the gospel, the printing press, so many books for Christians written in English and the ability to buy books over the internet - all this creates a marvellous opportunity for engaging the mind with truth.  As a starting point to further reading, a list of recommended reading has been provided.

Reflections

Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exist.  A baby feels hunger; well, there is such a thing as food. Men feel sexual desire; well, there is such a thing as sex. If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was meant for another world. If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not mean that the universe is a fraud. Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing.— C.S. Lewis
