A number of ministries are run on Sunday mornings for the nurture, encouragement and building up in Christian faith of children: A Quiet Space and Crèche (up to 3 years old); Kidzown (3 -10 years old) and Start Up (11-12 years old).
Values That Guide Our Ministry With Children
CrècheDuring the Sunday morning service a crèche is provided for toddlers up to 3 years old. You may leave your child in the care of our team and pick them up at the conclusion of the service. We also provide a "Quiet Space" for parents and babies. Audio from the service is available in this room.
KidzownThis is our programme for 3-10 year olds. It is run in the Sycamore Place during our Sunday morning gathering, with children leaving for Kidzown part-way through the service. Kidzown is the time when our kids can be kids as they grow in their knowledge and understanding of God. We have a large group time when we sing, pray and read the Bible – just like in ‘Big Church’, before we break into smaller age-related groups for the Bible teaching component of our time together. Our small group time allows us to get to know the kids better, and therefore shape our programme to suit their needs. The material we use has the Bible at its centre and activities, crafts, games and discussions flow from that to help each child learn about who God is and how to have a relationship with him. Small groups also make developing friendships easier for the kids as they spend time week by week with each other. We love it when parents come and visit us during our Kidzown time, and encourage you to stay while your child settles in.
Start UpThis group is designed for Intermediate age children. During their time together on Sunday mornings these "tween-agers" study the Bible, ask questions and work out how the Bible applies to their lives. The programme builds on what the children have learnt at Kidzown and takes them on towards a personal faith in Christ. It is a more discussion-based, engaging with the children as they develop more independence and are required to make more choices. The Start Up group also meet once a month on a Friday evening for fun and social activities. They swim, eat, skate, play games, watch movies - all the things that "tween-ages" love to do.
